Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue was born on May 28,1968 in Melbourne, Australia. She is the first child of Ronald Charles Minogue, an accountant and Carol Jones, a former dancer. Kylie Minogue attended classes at Camberwell High School in Melbourne along with her sister Dannii. At the age of twelve, Kylie appeared in small roles in soap operas on Australian television such as The Sullivans and Skyways, before being cast in one of the lead roles in The Henderson Kids. She gave her first singing performance in 1983, on the weekly music show, Young Talent Time. Then in 1986 she was cast in the soap opera Neighbours. During a Fitzroy Football Club benefit concert with other Neighbours cast members, Minogue performed “The Loco-Motion” and was signed to a recording contract with Mushroom Records in 1987. Released as a single, the recording spent seven weeks at number one on the Australian music charts. As a result, Kylie Minogue then recorded and released her debut album, Kylie, in 1988. Kylie was a number one album in the United Kingdom, and it produced three number one singles in Australia. Kylie has since gone on to sell over thirteen million copies. Kylie Minogue has since released nine more albums and has over sixty million in album sales.

Mya

Mýa Marie Harrison, professionally known as Mýa, was born on October 10, 1979 in Washington DC. She was raised in Glenn Dale, Maryland and graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Mýa released her self titled debut album in May 1998. It featured guest appearances by Sisqo, Missy Elliot, and Silkk Tha Shocker and produced three singles, “It’s All About Me, “Movin’ On” and “My First Night With You”. The album debut at number seventy-seven on the Billboard 200 and later peaked at number twenty-nine. The album was certified platinum by RIAA on October 1, 1998. Mýa followed that success with the release of her sophomore album, Fear of Flying, released by Interscope Records on April 25, 2000. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA on March 28, 2001 and garnered Mýa a Soul Train Music Award nomination for Best R&B/Soul album. Mýa has since released three more albums and has launched a successful film career. She has starred in movies such as Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), Shall We Dance? (2004) and Cursed (2005). In 2002, she had a supporting role in the film adaptation of the 1975 Broadway musical Chicago, for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award.

TATU

TATU is a Russian duo formed in Moscow, Russia in 1999 by Ivan Shapovalov. The group consists of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova. Ivan Shapovalov and his business partner Alexander Voitinskyi decided to hold auditions for a new group they wanted to form in early 1998. After they cast the two girls thus completing the duo, the producers decided on the name Tatu. It is a shortened version from the Russian “Eta devushka lyubit tu devushku”, meaning “This girl loves that girl”. In 2001 they released their debut albu ,200 Po Vstrechnoy. Due to the sales of this CD, t.A.T.u. became the first eastern European group to receive a IFPI Platinum Award. They then released their second studio album and their first English language on in December of 2002. It was entitled “200 km/h in the Wrong Lane” and has since gone on to receive a gold certification in the United States. In 2004, the group took a hiatus after they split from their producer. In 2005, they released Dangerous and Moving and Lyudi Invalidy. During 2006, TATU released a compilation album and then ventured on their own after negotiating out of their contract with Universal Music. Tatu has since gone on to release four more studio albums and thirteen singles. On May 31st, 2009 TATU celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Red Hot Chili Peppers is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. The core members of the band include Anthony Kiedis, John Frusciante, Michael “Flea” Balzary and Chad Smith. Former members have included Hillel Slovak, Cliff Martinez and Dave Navarro. They began their career by playing at various LA clubs and musical venues. Several months after their first performance they were signed to EMI records. On August 10, 1984, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released their self titled debut. It was a commercial failure and failed to break into the charts. The band undaunted, would go on to release three more albums before they released their breakthrough hit Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The album was released on September 24, 1991 through Warner Bros. Records. The album made the Red Hot Chili Peppers mega stars and has since sold over thirteen million copies worldwide. They have since gone on to release four more albums. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have won seven Grammy Awards and sold over fifty million albums worldwide. They also have had eight singles in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and hold a record of eleven #1 singles on the Modern Rock charts. They are currently on hiatus and are eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the year 2009.
